Fiesta De Tamales
Our 2016 Fiesta de Tamales took place at the Eagle Crest Nursery in El Jebel on Saturday, October 1, 5-8 PM.
In a valley filled with hundreds of nonprofits and high-priced ticket galas, English in Action’s annual fundraiser puts the people it serves in the spotlight. Immigrants, who are usually the ones learning through our student-tutor language-based program, get a turn to teach volunteers how to make tamales and pupusas—hundreds of which are served at Fiesta de Tamales.
An army of volunteers and grassroots activism makes the fundraiser a true community event. It not only helps raise a significant amount of money to fund the organization, but the actual event meets English In Action’s mission by bringing diverse communities together.
The Fiesta includes a performance by Aspen Santa Fe Ballet’s Folklórico dancers, Mexican folk singers, piñatas, dancing, a prize drawing and more than 1,200 homemade tamales and pupusas to energize attendees.
