Take a Stand / Support English In Action

On Giving Tuesday, November 29—and throughout this season of giving—please support English In Action! Giving Tuesday is a national day of giving—a perfect time to take a stand in support of our work.

At a time when our national discourse has grown disturbingly divisive, English In Action offers a powerful antidote. Every day, we bring together people of diverse cultural backgrounds for the common purpose of learning to communicate more effectively. By matching volunteer tutors with adults who want to learn English, we are helping shore up the foundations of a civil society.

Now more than ever, we need your contribution to ensure more people have access to our programs. When we sit in each other’s kitchens, eat each other’s food, share each other’s hopes and dreams, we cannot demonize one another. The Roaring Fork Valley and communities throughout the country need programs like English In Action.

Make a donation to kick off this season of giving. Help English In Action restore compassionate discourse and create a more united community.

Annual Fund Drive | Invest In Our Community

Dear friends,
For more than 20 years, English In Action has created a web of thousands of friendships throughout the Roaring Fork Valley by matching volunteer tutors with immigrants who want to learn English. Please invest in our community by making a donation on Colorado Gives Day—December 8, 2015! For every online donation we receive on that day, we will receive additional funds.

givesdayHow Colorado Gives Day Works:
ColoradoGives.org is a year-round website featuring more than 1,650 nonprofits. Thanks to Community First Foundation and First Bank, Colorado Gives Day features a $1 Million Incentive Fund. Every nonprofit receiving a donation on December 8th receives a portion of the Incentive Fund, which increases the value of every dollar donated.
Visit our profile on ColoradoGives.org. Donations can be scheduled ahead of time.

As English In Action embarks on our next 20 years, our urgent mission is to serve 100 more adult students on our waiting list annually by 2018. To do this we are launching a volunteer recruitment drive to grow our individual tutoring program and are creating a small group tutoring program. Last year we served 240 people, and this year we’d like to increase that number to 290. Support is needed to train, support and prepare tutors and students; buy books; and offer locations for participants to learn English.
At English In Action we believe that our community is stronger when we are more connected. Your donation will help to unlock the hidden potential of our community. Learn more about our STUDENTS + TUTORS + DONORS and their INVESTMENT IN OUR COMMUNITY. Also learn about A STUDENT ON OUR WAITING LIST of nearly 125 people who would like a tutor.

Finally, I invite you to watch this short VIDEO sharing how English In Action has changed their lives.

20th Anniversary Challenge Grant: You + Me = We

WE are a more connected community because of English In Action. As we embark on our next 20 years, we have countless more relationships to build. This spring a long-time volunteer offered us a $20,000 grant if we could raise an additional $20,000 from our supporters. We reached and exceeded our goal on July 30th. We raised $28,526 from 130 individuals and organizations. A supporter agreed to match an additional $5,000, bringing our total raised to $53,526!

English In Action gives our deepest gratitute to the individuals and organizations that supported our Twentith Anniversary Challenge Grant!
